McFarlane Toys has unveiled a brand-new figure of everyone’s favorite web-slinger, based on the cover of a landmark The Amazing Spider-Man issue. The Spider-Man 1:10th scale Gold Label collectible is coming soon and will be exclusively available at Target.
McFarlane Toys revealed the new Spider-Man figure on its official X (formerly known as Twitter). The Spider-Man 1:10th scale is inspired by the cover of The Amazing Spider-Man #38, illustrated by the character’s co-creator Steve Ditko. The issue was the late legendary comic book artist’s last with co-creator, the great Stan Lee, who kept writing the book till The Amazing Spider-Man #100. Released on July 1, 1966, Marvel’s description of the final Ditko and Lee issue reads, “There’s a bounty on Spider-Man’s head and Norman Osborn is behind it! As if struggling with homework wasn’t enough, Peter Parker must confront the villains seeking his life. Also, a chemically altered boxer named Joe Smith stirs up trouble for Spider-Man.”
The Best Spider-Man Stories Where The Villain Is Victorious
Spider-Man almost always comes out on top, though deadly villains like Jackal, Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus have each claimed their own victories.
Lee and Ditko’s run on The Amazing Spider-Man, which began in 1963, laidthe groundwork for how the iconic character is still contemporarily portrayed, and the series has remained the flagship Spider-Man title throughout its publication history. The Amazing Spider-Man introduced almost all of Peter Parker’s supporting characters and rogues gallery. Towards the end of his run on The Amazing Spider-Man, Ditko also began to write the stories for the book. John Romita Sr. replaced Ditko when he left after The Amazing Spider-Man #38.
Ditko will be posthumously inducted into 2024’s Class of Disney Legends. The Marvel icon will join the class of this year’s Disney Legends on August 11 at Disney’s fan event, D23, alongside other illustrious members such as BlackPanther‘s Angela Basset, Avatar director James Cameron, acclaimed composer John Williams, Harrison Ford, Jamie Lee Curtis, Miley Cyrus, and Frank Oz.

Ditko was inducted into the comics industry’s Jack Kirby Hall of Fame in 1990 and into the Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame in 1994. The artist began his professional career in 1953, and his association with Marvel Comics ensued when he started drawing for Atlas Comics, a forerunner of the publisher. The legendary artist’s legacy extends beyond Marvel, as he was instrumental in creating or revamping many Charlton and DC Comics characters, including Captain Atom and Blue Beetle.
